We’ve expanded our customisation options for Managed Portfolios giving you more flexibility over the assets your clients hold. This new functionality allows you to tailor your client's Managed Portfolio by customising the underlying holdings to account for any specific client preferences.

This means that North’s menu of Managed Portfolios can accommodate more of your clients who would like to be using Managed Portfolios for the range of benefits they provide but whose individual circumstances have prevented them from doing so.

What's New?

In North Online you now have the ability to nominate one or more assets to not be held within a client's Managed Portfolio with the option to:

  • nominate a substitute asset to hold instead
  • to hold the allocation(s) in Managed Portfolio Cash
  • to spread the allocation(s) proportionally across the other assets in the client's Managed Portfolio.

This investment preference instruction will apply to all Managed Portfolios (current and future) that the account may invest in until the instruction is deleted, or the account is closed.

To support the introduction of investment preferences, the following changes have been made to North Online.

  • The Investments Instruction screen has been updated with a new Managed portfolio investment preferences section to make, edit or delete an investment preference instruction.
  • Client’s letters and forms generated in North Online will now include information where applicable on investment preferences.

What do you need to do if you have a transaction in progress?

Where a Switch, Investment Instruction, Account Transfer, Create new client or Open new account transaction has been ‘saved to resume’ in North Online on or prior to 31 May 2024 you may need to take additional action when you resume the transaction.

  • If documentation has not been viewed or viewed without entering ‘edit’ in North Online screens for the account, documents can be generated and submitted without error.
  • Documentation will need to be regenerated if ‘edit’ mode has been selected for any North Online screen required to complete the transaction.
  • The new Managed portfolio investment preferences section will display in the Investment instruction screen and account details screen. If a new Investment preference has be selected, new documentation will need to be regenerated.
